Subscribing to a podcast on an iPhone
This video walks you through how to subscribe to the TUMS podcast on an iPhone.
Subscribing, rating and reviewing a podcast in iTunes
In addition to the number of subscribers, the number of (favorable) ratings and reviews are critical to the success of a podcast. The more of these 3 things a podcast has (i.e., subscribers, ratings, and reviews), the higher a podcast ranks in the iTunes search algorithm, and the more organic traffic a podcast gets from iTunes window shoppers.
This video walks you though how to subscribe to and leave a rating and review for the Undifferentiated Medical Student in iTunes (i.e., the app on your computer, not your mobile device), but you can also leave a rating and review the exact same way through the Podcast app on your iPhone!
If you have iTunes on your computer, you can click here to be taken automatically to the TUMS page in iTunes (just a heads up, a scary dialogue box might pop up that’s trying to launch iTunes, and just click Launch Application…)!
Subscribing on an Android device
I don’t have much experience with Android devices unfortunately, so I don’t personally know how to subscribe to a podcast on said devices. Fortunately, literally millions of other people have posted videos on how to do this on YouTube, and I picked one I thought was decent. The podcast player this video suggests using is Overcast (available for both Android and iOS). It’s a paid app, but I use it and I recommend it from the bottom of my heart. So good. For 2 reasons: 1) Smart Speed, and 2) Voice Boost. Watch the video. (Careful, it’s loud).
Android devices now offer the native Google Play Music app to play podcasts as well.
